In 2022, apple was the third most widespread fruit crop in the world, after banana and watermelon. However, monofloral apple blossom honey is not common, as apple trees blossom in spring, very early, when weather conditions are often bad for beekeeping (cold & rain). This perhaps explains why, although Central European countries have very high apple yields (especially Poland, the fourth largest apple producer in the world), apple blossom honey is actually produced in Italy (South Tyrol) and Spain (Catalonia), where springs are warmer.
Multifloral apple honey crystallizes quickly, very finely, turning to a creamy texture. It is one of the most pleasantly scented types of honey, with an exquisite apple blossom aroma.
