Fireweed is a flowering plant widespread in the temperate zone of the Northern Hemisphere, but more common in colder, forested areas, preferring open, sunny spaces. It is a pioneer plant, quickly occupying areas destroyed by fire. It flowers in August-September. It is an important melliferous plant, producing nectar in abundance.

The fireweed honey does not have a specific flavour, it has a faint smell and a slightly floral, mild taste. It is sweeter than other types of honey and remains liquid for a long time. It crystallizes coarsely. Its colour varies from yellow to reddish-orange.
