Rapeseed is a plant widely cultivated in temperate zones, tolerating climates ranging from the Mediterranean to the cooler climates of Canada and Russia.

Although rapeseed has been cultivated in Romania for over 100 years, crops have expanded greatly in recent times, so that this plant has become one of the main melliferous sources, all the more so it produces large quantities of nectar and pollen, offering high honey yields.

In its liquid state, rapeseed honey is almost colourless, but it crystallizes very quickly into fine white crystals. It has a pungent smell at first because of the volatile oils it contains, so many consumers avoid it. It needs to be left for a while for the intense, distinctive aroma to diminish.
