Rosemary is one of the most widespread Mediterranean plants. It is a drought tolerant shrub. It is native to the Mediterranean Basin, where it grows in large areas, but it has also been introduced to many other parts of the world, including some with temperate continental and oceanic climates (UK, Ireland, Germany, Bulgaria, parts of the USA).
It is commonly used as a spice or to obtain essential oils for the cosmetics industry.
Rosemary honey has a mild scent and a pleasant, floral, medium-intensity aroma. It remains liquid for a long time. It is produced in large quantities in Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece; and in smaller quantities in other Mediterranean countries.
