Sage is a plant of Mediterranean origin that has adapted to some northern regions too. It is cultivated over large areas in the Republic of Moldova, but in Romania the cultivation of sage is rather limited. This means that while sage honey is common on the Moldovan market, in Romania it is quite rare.

Sage honey is light in colour, very pleasant to the taste, slightly minty, with a specific sage-like aroma.
